How did this get started? And indeed a whole month! Those of us that like to sew should be complimented. In 1982, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed that September is National Sewing Month "in recognition of the importance of home sewing to our nation". These days, this means there are special sales in fabrics and sewing machines everywhere. I like to celebrate by giving my machines some extra TLC with a good cleaning and oiling. Also, consider changing your needle--this should actually be done with each new garment or project! I make an attempt to organize my sewing space so I am ready for my fall and holiday sewing (I said attempt). I am planning my fall projects now. What are you sewing this fall?
